Matters Helping All Parents: Emotional Wellness – Week 1

What is emotional wellness? Let’s start by talking about what it is NOT. Emotional wellness does not mean that we will always be happy. It does not mean that we will live a life free of problems or sorrows.  Emotional wellness is much more about how we accept and respond: It can be thought of as a continual process of growth and change that enables one to maintain satisfying relationships, deal with conflict, and remain grounded during stressful times. Emotional wellness is about learning how to be attentive to our thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and environment whether positive or negative. It involves cultivating a positive attitude and also bouncing back when things are not so positive.
